Casino (1995)

 “Casino” by Martin Scorsese is the greatest example of classic movies about criminal structures and gambling. This movie will be perfect for those who love mafia themes. The film was created by Nicolas Pileggi’s book which is based on true events and tells us a story about a Mafiosi who was managing plenty of casinos while governing a mafia clan. The story is about Las Vegas, something between 70s and 80s, where the main character, Sam Rosenthal, owns several casinos and does the mafia things at the same time. Rather fascinating, isn’t it?

The movie features such prominent legends as Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro. The set of actors and actresses really contributes to the film’s main theme. Moreover, you may see the life stories of other characters such as Nicky Santoro and Ace Rothstein, which are the members of a mafia clan who have become qualified casino managers. The main plot twist is when Ace Rothstein falls for a charismatic hustler so that Nicky Santoro gets involved in the world of violence and drugs, which is charming but killing.  The movie portrays the breathtaking and charming old times of the  Las Vegas gambling epoque where there were plenty of mobsters who ran the casinos before the era of online casinos came.

Croupier (1998)

The film named Croupier with  brilliant Clive Owen playing the main role was truly a bomb in the 1990s. The plot is about the world of gambling in the eyes of a professional croupier. The film’s director Mike Hodge was trying to keep away from all this luxurious casino theme and focused on the lively world of London gambling with its own breathtaking moments and great story twists.  A youngster named Jack, who is basically a beginner writer, is craving to write a true bestseller someday, but something goes wrong when his father gets him a new occupation as a dealer in a tiny London casino. That’s the place where Jack starts his career. You will adore the professional tips given by Jack to the viewers (the tips about blackjack and roulette are truly essential to mention). Moreover, you will look into the life of the croupier. 

Molly's Game (2017)

Molly’s Game is a recent movie starring such actors and actresses as Kevin Costner, Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain playing main roles. The story of the film is about an Olympic ski-sportsman Molly Bloom and her life. Molly becomes a hostess at an exclusive and luxury poker club, starts her career as a poker gambler and becomes the target of the FBI.  Molly was a perfect skier, but one day she got a serious injury which led to the crush of her ski career. After some stressful weeks, Molly became recruited as a hostess at the Viper Room. There were plenty of high-rollers who were placing huge bets and winning thousands of dollars. Molly started learning how to play poker and eventually her annual earnings became estimated as 4 million dollars! Of course, such an intense elevation was followed by drug addiction, connections with mafia and several court cases. In the end she was shut down by a FBI agent.

21 (2008)

The film is based on a real event and there are such actors as Laurence Fishburne, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey and Jim Sturgess. We highly recommend the movie to all the backjack admirers.  Ben Campbell is the student of MIT who needs some cash to pay out the tuition fees. One day a brilliant idea appears on his mind - he decides to create a team of his buddies and even one math professor. The team started applying their skills of math in order to gain money while playing blackjack in the city of Las Vegas. One day, the priorities of Ben change with real cash.  The very exciting feature of the film is in the teacher of math in the team, who was the first man who encouraged the students to earn money by gambling. The main aim of the movie is to show us that math can be applied to most things in our world - especially to the casinos. 

Win It All (2017)

Eddie Garett played by Jack Johnson is addicted to gambling. One day, Eddie agreed to watch the bag filled with cash while the owner was imprisoned. The main story twist begins when Eddie decides to go to a casino and stale the cash in the bag. Unfortunately, he loses all the cash so he needs to return it. The comedy shows us the sides of the life of a gambling addict. And the entire plot signifies that ambling addiction is an awful thing which couldn’t be controlled. So Eddie now has to win back the lost cash until the owner gets removed from the prison. The film is pretty funny and easy-going, though. So you’ll definitely adore it!

Ocean's Eleven (2001)

This movie has a truly impressive cast which involves such Hollywood stars as Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. George Clooney is a true genius who decides to rob three various gambling houses in a row. He creates a qualified team with Brad Pitt so as to bring his plan to life.  The film is a real action which will show the viewer a detailed mechanism of the casino’s operation. Casino Royale: James Bond (2006)

Unfortunately, Mike gets involved in the New York criminal scene and loses all his funds in the end while playing at the totally illegal underground casino.  This film will perfectly suit all the poker fans which will definitely enjoy the way how the film portrays the world of poker. “Rounders “ has a perfect cast of actors such as Matt Damon as Mike McDermott, John Malkovich and Edward Norton are in the supporting roles.
